The Mountain Cur is a type of dog that was bred specifically for treeing and hunting small game. However, they are also excellent dogs for hunting big game as well as being kept as a utility farm dog. These dogs are part of the Hound family and are bred primarily in Ohio, Kentucky, Virginia and Tennessee. Mountain Cur’s are highly intelligent animals that are easily trained. While not a vicious dog, they have been known to become aggressive when protecting their owners. Since they were bred to be working dogs, without the opportunity to hunt or work they will grow anxious. Mountain Cur’s typically are short haired dogs that come in a variety of colors, including blue, yellow and brown.
