The Teacup Maltipoo

What Is a Teacup Maltipoo?

Maltipoos are a hybrid cross between a Maltese and a Poodle. They can come in different sizes depending on the size of the parents used for breeding.

Maltipoo puppies naturally have the characteristics of their parent breeds. You can expect to see the same traits in a Maltipoo that you would find in the Maltese and the Poodle. The tiny Maltipoo is playful and energetic. Like their parents, they are gentle, very intelligent, and they love to please their owners. They are typically easy to train and very loyal to their families. The tiny toy Maltipoo makes an excellent family dog because they usually love everyone. They are good with children and they make a good dog for someone who is retired.

According to Maltipoo clubs, an adult Maltipoo should weigh between 5 and 12 pounds. Dogs that are teacup or toy size will be smaller than this when they are fully grown. According to breeders, tiny Maltipoos come in three different sizes. The teacup Maltipoo – also known as the tiny Maltipoo – that is less than 4 pounds; the tiny toy Maltipoo that is 4-6 pounds; and toy Maltipoos that are 4-6 pounds. Maltipoos usually weigh between 4 and 10 pounds when they are adults. However, since this is a hybrid dog, different breeders can use different terms to refer to their dogs and their sizes. When you talk to a Teacup Maltipoo breeder, be sure to ask them how large their puppies will become when they are fully grown.

The tiny Maltipoo comes in various colors, but lighter colors are more common. Their coat is fluffy and soft. It usually has a soft wave to it due to their Poodle parent’s curly coat. Since they are a crossbreed, some puppies will have coats with different textures. They can be curly or almost straight-haired.

Grooming Your Tiny Maltipoo Puppy

Grooming your tiny Maltipoo is not difficult. Most of them will need to be brushed once or twice a week. If your Maltipoo has a coat that is curlier like his Poodle parent, you will need to have it clipped once every 6 to 8 weeks to keep it looking nice. Either way, your Maltipoo probably won’t shed much since both the Maltese and the Poodle are considered hypoallergenic breeds.

Toy Maltipoos and Allergies

Toy Maltipoo puppies are often considered to be a good choice for people with allergies. Many hybrid dogs have a Poodle parent because Poodles are virtually non-shedding and are a good dog for people with allergies. However, if you are considering a Maltipoo because you have allergies, it is always important to meet the individual puppy or dog to make sure that you are not allergic. Coat textures can vary and each dog is an individual. You might be allergic to one dog and not another. So be sure to meet the puppy or dog and see if you have an allergic reaction.

Toy Maltipoo Health

One of the reasons for creating a hybrid breed like the Teacup Maltipoo is to try to avoid some of the health problems that exist in the parent breeds. The Maltese is a relatively healthy breed. They can have some issues with luxating patellas, which is the case with many small breeds. They can also have some problems with bladder stones. But most problems are not common. The Poodle can have problems with Addison’s disease, bloat, and some other less common issues. But Poodles can also be remarkably long-lived, especially the Toy and Miniature varieties. Some Poodles will live to be 17 to 20 years old.

These are two good breeds to use for a hybrid mix. The Maltese and Poodle don’t share the same health problems, which makes it less likely that genetic health troubles will be passed along to their offspring. As a result, the tiny Maltipoo tends to be a healthy designer dog breed.

With parents as smart as the Maltese and the Poodle, you would expect tiny toy Maltipoos to be very intelligent – and they are. As with most puppies, it’s a good idea to socialize your puppy from an early age. Socialization helps prevent puppies from being fearful of people or other dogs. After your puppy has had his vaccinations, you can take him to the park and take him to places where he can meet friendly strangers. Let them pet him and give him treats. Keep your puppy on a leash so he is under control. Do not allow him to run up to other dogs. Not all dogs are friendly and some dogs do not like puppies, especially when puppies jump and play around them.

You can also sign your Maltipoo puppy up for a puppy kindergarten class. These classes teach puppies some basic manners and they are a good way to socialize with other puppies and their owners. Check with your local pet store or kennel club to see if they offer these classes.

It’s also a good idea to take a basic obedience class with your tiny toy Maltipoo puppy. Your puppy is very smart and chances are he will enjoy showing off and learning tricks. An obedience class is a good way to learn basic commands and do something fun together.

You will probably find that house training your tiny Maltipoo puppy is quite easy. Start house training your puppy as soon as you bring him home and insist on him following the rules from the start.

Small Dog Syndrome and the Teacup Maltipoo

Many small dogs are so cute that it’s very easy to spoil them. This can happen easily with the tiny Maltipoo. You might treat your puppy like a child, give him the best seat on the sofa, and let him do whatever he wants, even when he’s naughty. Very soon you may discover that you have a little monster in the house. This can happen with any small dog.

You can prevent this sort of bad behavior from becoming ingrained in your teacup Maltipoo by remembering that he is a dog and not a child. Do not let him do whatever he wants to do. Treat him like he’s a dog, just as you would a larger dog. Even if he’s very cute when he does something bad, remember that you should not approve of his bad behavior. This is why it’s important for even very small dogs to learn obedience and why we recommend good socialization and obedience classes for small dogs. Small dogs need to mind their manners just as much as big dogs. That’s true even with dogs as charming as the teacup Maltipoo.
